A lot of people have said that they are tired of hearing about the elections, but when all is said and done, very little time is spent worrying about them.

Only after the election results, and only after a lot of people came to the realization that someone like Trump was actually going to win, did a lot of people start becoming vocal. By then it was too late. To see just how little people bothered with election, consider Google Trends results for “election” on two time scales: 2004 – Present and 8/12/2016 – 11/12/2016.
If this doesn’t explain just how little we think about the elections, up until election day, then I don’t know what will. Yet that’s the problem. Four years come and go in a blink of an eye. From the beginning we need to start talking about what we want in a candidate, and what we cannot tolerate from a candidate. We need to decide whether or not the party to which we belong can even give us what we need.
So with just 1451 days, as of writing this article, I think it is time to start talking about election 2020. First, I do not think we can deal with the corrupt DNC any longer, nor should we bother. For a long time I thought it would be a good idea to have many in the Republican and Democratic parties, just to try to limit how bad a candidate they could nominate in the primaries. This election cycle has shown that it is impossible. So for me, it is time to officially switch to the Libertarian party. Maybe an outflow of members will give the establishment something to think about.
As with other posts, this is a live post. I will update it as time goes on. So once again, we cannot wait until the last minute to start thinking about the election. If we do, this will happen again. Let the countdown begin.
